Educational Field Visit to Observe Arya Tara Devi Vrata

Students and faculty members (Acting Principal, Administrator, and the Lecturers) of Sugata Buddhist College paid an inspiring educational field visit to DharmaKriti Mahabihar (Ta:Bahal) in Lalitpur on Thursday, 17 November 2022 (01 Mangsir 2079), They also observed with keen interest Arya Tara Vrata organized by Vajracarya Pujabidhi Addyan Samiti on the auspicious day of Mangsir Sankranti.

During the visit, Lecturer Mr. Milan Shakya explained to the students the history of Bodhisattva Arya Tara. Similarly, another lecturer Mr. Shanta Shree Bajracharya explained the importance and the procedure of Arya Tara Devi Vrata. Lecturer Birat Bajracharya explained the process and meaning of the Arya Tara Vrata. Another lecturer Mr. Pushpa Raj Bajracharya explained the meaning of the mantras. Lastly, Lecturer Mr. Arun Bajracharya explained to the students about the practice of Uposadha vrata in the Sakyamuni Buddha’s time according to Lalitavistara Sutra.

Being a unique college of Vajrayana, a stream of Mahayana, the SBC conducted this memorable field visit for its students to the site where Arya tara vrata took place. where the students had many queries cleared up by the respected lecturers. They were excited to know from them the detailed philosophical meaning of the mantras and the ritual procedures which they have always been hearing and seeing.

Overall, this educational field visit can be considered very fruitful to the students and the lecturers alike.
